"Ghetto Football" visits the mecca of street football in Belgium

On May 4, the day of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia, the "Ghetto Football" team had the fifth "Ghetto Football Euro League" tournament. It is no secret that the Grīziņkalns district in Riga has experienced many changes until it reached the existing infrastructure. Taking the example of "Ghetto Games' Grīziņkalns", such a district was also chosen by the organizers of the Brussels event - a district where street football is played in every corner in different age categories.

Despite the fact that Brussels is the capital of Europe, the event took place in the epicenter of street culture, where almost every child has grown up with a ball. One of the strongest teams in the Euroleague so far, fought until midnight for a ticket to the grand final on June 8, in Riga! The event wasn't complete without the successful panna tournament, which was won by one of the most popular street football players, Mehdi Amri (Belgium).

"The tournament was very powerful, which we haven't had in street football for a long time, despite the fact that the most popular players come from Belgium. It was not easy. I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to the finals with my 3v3 team, but we still have a chance to win in Amsterdam. And, of course, we will meet in Ventspils in the panna 1 vs. 1 final tournament", about the tournament says the panna 1 vs. 1 winner in Brussels, who started his career in street football at the age of 13.

At the opening of the tournament, the spectators were surprised with a football freestyle show, in which performed Melody Donchet from France and Soufian Bencok from Belgium, who are also Euroleague ambassadors.

A big thank you should also go to our project partner in Brussels, Muhamed, who is one of the founders of the pan and is actively involved in the development of street football culture!
